PUPPIES: Health Guarantee

Breeder's Responsibility:

  1. The Breeder guarantees the puppy is in good health at the time of delivery. The Buyer has 7 days to take the puppy into a veterinarian for an examination. If the puppy is found to be of poor health, the Buyer has the option of returning the puppy to the Breeder for a full refund or keeping the puppy and the Breeder will reimburse for all veterinary costs, up to the purchase price, related to the pre-existing condition. Note... Base Narrow Canines are the most common dental abnormality in all dog breeds and as such, we see it in our puppies occasionally. At Puppy Love, we pull the affected baby canines during spay/neuter surgery, giving the adult teeth the best possible chance at coming in correctly and recommend "ball therapy" for your puppy. In our experience, adult canines come in correctly 99.9% of the time with no further measures necessary. BNC are not covered in this clause except when the adult tooth is found to be growing into the soft palate. In this case, photos will be required, and Breeder will cover up to $500 for the first tooth and $250 should both teeth be affected, towards your preferred course of treatment but recommends extraction to be the most cost effective and easiest on the dog.
  2. The Breeder provides a warranty for 2 years plus 6 months after the date of birth against any serious genetic disorder that affects the dog's quality of life. Should a serious genetic disorder be discovered, the Breeder will offer a replacement puppy from the next available litter or refund the veterinary costs up to the original purchase price (breeder's choice). Your puppy does not need to be returned to us. All veterinary records must be supplied to the Breeder. In the case of Hip Dysplasia, the buyer must provide documentation from PennHip or OFA within 6 months of this dog reaching 2 years of age. In the case of cataracts or PRA, the Buyer must provide documentation from a certified veterinary ophthalmologist.

Buyer's Responsibility:

  1. The Buyer will provide the dog a caring and loving home.
  2. The Buyer will take the dog to a veterinarian for an annual check-up and all preventative treatment recommended by the veterinarian will be followed with the exception of flea and tick medication. (ie. Bravecto, Simparica, Nexgard, Credelio). The occurrence of neurological issues in dogs who have been treated with this type of medication is at an all time high. Should you choose to use this type of medication, this health warranty will be void where any possible neurological issue is concerned. The Breeder recommends Revolution, which is a safer, topical treatment.
  3. The Buyer will take the puppy to either group or private training classes by the time he/she is 5 months of age. This is beneficial for obedience training but also for socialization.
  4. The Buyer will feed the dog only a premium quality dog food. If you choose to feed kibble, The Breeder recommends Nutrience, Canadian Naturals, Go!, Origen, Now! All of the listed brands are Canadian made, which is our preference. Please also keep in mind that recent info suggests that food containing peas, lentils or potatoes might be contributing to an increase in DCM, which is a cardiac disease. Making sure that the food you choose uses real meat sources as protein content will limit his/her chance of developing that heart disease. It is also our view that dogs are inherently carnivores and do not tolerate grains well, manifested as ear infections, itchy skin, sensitive guts. A balanced raw diet is our recommendation and there are freeze dried or dehydrated foods that make raw food very convenient. The breeder recommends Puppy Love Freeze Dried Feast food but there are many options. Smack brand dehydrated raw would be a great second choice. Pet food sold in grocery stores do not constitute a premium pet food.
  5. The Buyer will not allow the dog to become overweight or allow repetitive, rigorous exercise during the puppy's first year of development.
  6. The Buyer will contact the Breeder immediately if they can no longer look after the dog at ANY point during the dog's life. The Breeder will have first option as placement for the dog and will pay the Buyer ¾ of the purchase price if the dog is returned in the first year of birth. Thereafter the Breeder will pay the Buyer ½ of the purchase price.
